There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that contains a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
