There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
